Day 1Shanghai: Top 5 Highlights All Inclusive Private Day Tour

Meet Your Guide at Your Downtown Hotel Lobby

This morning, your guide will meed you at your downtown hotel lobby at your request time (8:00 AM, 8:30 AM, 9:00 AM, 9:30 AM).

Shanghai Tower Guided Tour (about 1 hour)

Your guide will firstly accompany you to a one-hour visit to Shanghai Tower, the tallest building in China, standing an impressive height of 632 meters. You will take the world's fastest elevator to the 119th-floor circular observation deck (546 meters up) in just 55 seconds. Get ready for a unique "cloud-top" experience and a 360-degree panoramic vista of the surrounding Huangpu River, the Bund, and other high-rising skyscrapers.

 

Yuyuan Garden Guided Tour (about 2 hours)

After that, move on to Yuyuan Garden and Bazaar for a 2-hour visit. They are two interconnected attractions which offer a unique one-stop experience of Shanghai's rich history and vibrant local life.


Built in 1559 in the Ming Dynasty, Yu Yuan Garden boasts a history of over 400 years. It is the most prestigious Jiangnan-style garden in Shanghai downtown area, featuring intricate layout coupled with exquisite buildings, gardens, rockeries, bridges, ponds, dragon walls, etc. The peaceful ambience make it perfect for leisurely stroll. 


Next to Yu Garden, you will find Yuyuan Bazaar. The many small streets and lanes here are lined densely with many restaurants, tea houses, shops selling antiques, souvenirs, diverse local sncks, silk, crafts, etc. The bazaar offers a good opportunity to see real traditional life in Shanghai.


French Concession (about 1 hour)

Move on to the French Concession to experience Shanghai's refined life and charming blend of Eastern and Western cultures. Established by the French in 1849, the French Concession is where you can encounter many Europeam architecture, historic villas, former residences of famous personalities, Orthodox churches, and elegant cafes. With its shaded avenues lined with towering French plane trees, this site is a great place for leisure strolling.


Visit Jade Buddha Temple (about 1 hour exploration)

Continue your Shanghai day tour to Jade Buddha Temple (aka Yu Fo Si Temple), another historical site in the city. Established in 1882 in the Qing Dynasty, Jade Buddha Temple is a refreshing oasis in the metropolis, adorned with elegant structures, serene natural space and many unique treasures from different dynasties.


The two jade buddhas (a 1.95-meter-tall sitting Buddha and a reclining Buddha) brought from Myanmar are its dominant treasures and the inspiration of the temple's name. Your guide will introduce you to its rich history, ignificant architectural features and stories behind the jade Buddha statues.


The Bund (about 0.5 hours' stroll)

Next, your guide will accompany you to discover one of Shanghai's most captivating sites - the Bund.

 

Stretching about 1.5 kilometers along the west bank of Huangpu River, the Bund is the most iconic landmark and waterfront pedestrian area of Shanghai. As a witness to Shanghai's financial history, the Bund is lined with 52 century-old European-style buildings, earning it the title "museum of international architecture". It is home to many historic banks and restaurants. From here, you can capture the iconic Pudong skyscrapers, including the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and Shanghai Tower.

 

The End of Your Shanghai Highlights Private Day Tour
