Visit the Bund (recommended time: 30 minutes)

Follow your guide to look into the bustling grandeur of the Bund. As an iconic highlight of Shanghai, this waterfront pendestrian street is lined with 52 century-old buildings of different European architectural styles, no surprise it is often called the "World Architectural Fair". Some iconic architecture here include:

• The eight-story Customs House, with its famous clock tower modeled after London's Big Ben.

• Fairmont Peace Hotel once was the most famous building in Shanghai.

• The Former HSBC Building: Currently the headquarters of Shanghai Pudong Developent Bank, it features a neoclassical style, and a grand octagonal hall with a dome fresco and precious Italian marble columns. 

Shanghai French Concession (need about 1 hour)

Don't miss the Former French Concession if you want to experience a slice of old Shanghai. Once a French settlement, this district features rich European-style villas together with traditional shikumen buildings, offering a look into early 20th-century life. During your guided tour at the Former French Concession, you'll wander leisurely down the artistic alleyways of Tianzifang, see many art galleries, cafes and craft shops scattered in the maze-like lanes,  and visit some historic cathedrals and buildings, like Wukang Building, Bai Gongguan, etc.

Shanghai Tower (need about 1.5 hours)

This tallest building in China has a height of 632 meters. Visitors can get to the observation deck on the 118th floor ( 546 meters high, admission tickets required) to enjoy the panoramic view of Shanghai. The world's fastest elevator in the building will take you to the observation deck in just 55 seconds. For adventure lovers, you can try to challenge the transparent glass skywalk at the 117th floor (extra fee needed, not included in the admission tickets).

Yu Garden

A top highlight of Shanghai, this classic garden can be traced back to the Ming Dynasty. As the most famous Jiangnan-style garden in Shanghai, Yuyuan Garden features beautiful rockeries, winding paths and bridges, exquisite pavillions and a peaceful atmosphere. The City God Temple and Yuyuan Bazzar are just a stone's throw away from Yuyuan Garden, offering a glimpse into locals' authentic daily life.

Jade Buddha Temple

The Jade Buddha Temple is where you can escape from the bustling city scene of Shanghai. The temple houses two rare and magnificent jade Buddha statues: one 1.95-meter-tall sitting Buddha and a smaller reclining Buddha, both of them are carved from a single piece of Burmese jade. Immerse yourself in its peaceful atmosphere and ancient buildings, and try delicious dishes in the temple's vegetarian restaurant.

Drive Back to the Airport (about 1 hour's driving)
