Private China Tour: 4-Day Beijing-Datong by Round Train

The tour will begin by personally being picked-up at your hotel in the morning between 8:30am and 9:00am. Your wonderful day will commence at Tian'anmen Square, with a leisurely 30 minute stroll around this world's largest public square. We then head north to Tian'anmen Rostrum with the well known and famously photographed colossal portrait of Mao. Continuing north to the Forbidden City, we will spend 1 1/2 to 2 hours exploring these magnificent ancient grounds. Then climb up the Jingshan Park where you can see the panoramic view of the Imperial Palace. After an appetizingly lunch, we proceed to the Temple of Heaven, the largest Imperial place of worship from ancient times. This special place becomes a park where the local community utilize this beautiful and enormous space for social activities such as singing, dancing, and Taiji practice.

As an optional excursion, you may choose to include the deliciously famous Peking Roast Duck Dinner and the Kongfu Performance at the Red Theatre. Please notify us if would like to take advantage of this special, exciting addition.

Pick up at your hotel (recommend start the tour at 7:30am to 8:00am)

Mutianyu Great Wall (1 1/2 to 2 hours drive)

This is a one of the most famous and ideal sections of the Great Wall. You will have your choice of taking the cable car or chair lift up the breathtaking wall and spend a leisurely 1 to 2 hours hiking up and down the various sections exploring the Watch Towers and marveling at the construction and beauty of the renown and legendary Wall. You then have the option of an exhilarating toboggan ride back down or simply return the way you came.

Lunch in a local Chinese restaurant or at the subway restaurant down the Mutianyu Wall.

Afternoon, visit Summer Palace, a summer resort for the imperial family members - considered the best preserved imperial park.

Pick up at the hotel & transfer to Beijing North railway station. Take a morning train from Beijing to Datong (around 2:20 hours driving).

Be picked up by the local guide at the station (Datong South station), start the tour directly.

Yungang Grottoes - one of the largest stone caving art treasury and one of the largest stone caving art treasury famous both home and abroad, which was listed as a world heritage site in 2011. It is located at the southern foot of Wuzhou Mountain, the grotto area was excavated along the mountain, imposingly stretching 1 kilometer with rich contents.

Nine-Dragon Screen - has 600 years history. It is the oldest and largest glazed screen in China today, which is a type of screen wall with reliefs of nine different Chinese dragons. There are 2 Nine-dragon Screen in China, one is located in Beihai Park of Beijing, Datong Nine-Dragon Screen is three times larger than the one in Beihai Park.

Hanging Temple - it is not only the oldest and largest wooden Buddhist pagoda in existence in the world, but also as the only surviving temple combining all three Chinese traditional religions/philosophies: Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. Seeing it from the distance, you could find it hanging in the mid air miraculously, hence the name "Hanging Temple”. You really need courage to climb some narrow wooden stairs！

Yingxian Wooden Tower - it is a masterpiece of carpentry and the oldest surviving wooden pagoda in the world without any Having been built without a single nail or rivet. If you are a "enthusiast of ancient architecture", Yingxian Wooden Tower is the place you must see.

Transfer to the railway station for taking the late afternoon high speedy train (departures from Datong South railway station) back to Beijing.

Be picked up at the Beijing North railway station by your local private driver & transfer to the hotel in downtown Beijing.
