Chengdu Panda Base & Leshan Grand Buddha Experience

Early in the morning, our driver and guide will pick you up at your hotel at 7:30am. You will drive about 40 minutes to Chengdu Panda Base, which is the largest panda base in Chengdu, surrounded by a beautiful natural environment. You will be guided through visiting the different enclosures of Chengdu Panda Base, where you may not only see adult pandas, but also newly born baby pandas if luck enough. We spend whole morning walking around this area to see different pandas playing in the enclosures or on the trees.

After our tour in the Panda Base, we will drive about 2.5hrs to Leshan Grand Buddha Statue. On arrival Leshan, we will arrange a lunch in the local restaurant for you.

Later after lunch, we will visit the Grand Buddha Statue by walking up the hill, the walk last about 2-3 hours including a lot of up and down sections. (If there was a long queue to go down to the feet of giant Buddha, skip the line, and take the river cruise to see Leshan Giant Buddha is recommended.)

Follow the stone steps up to the top of Lingyun Hill, you will be able to see three rivers confluence in front of Giant Buddha, and the head of the Buddha Statue comes into your view. After taking a couple of pictures, then you descend along the red sand cliff to view the phenomenal Leshan Giant Buddha from his feet. Later you will go back to the head of the Buddha Statue again by following a tunnel track carved on the cliff. And explore Buddhist sculptures and murals inside of Lingyun Temple before leaving.

And you will uncover the peaceful Wuyou Temple, located on the top of a small island, opposite the Giant Buddha Statue. Due to its unique location, it has very open river view and peaceful environment. You will cross a river bridge, follow the stone steps up again, which is covered by the shadow of the trees. Once getting to the top, the open river views appear in front of you. It is very quiet temple since only the locals come here for praying, and you will visit one of the halls, where there are 500 hundred “Buddha Knights Statues” built. Each of them stands for one story, definitely your guide will tell you some interesting stories about them.

Later you will go back to downtown Chengdu, the end of your day trip.
