Day by Day Itinerary
Gubei Water Town is a located in Miyun County which is?about 96?miles (155 kilometers) from the city.?It was a historic military border village, the garrison soldiers with their generation during the past dynasties thrived here then forming a small village of the rich flavor of life. It is Composed of picturesque canals, bridges, courtyard houses, shops, and hotels, all backed by mountains and the Simatai section of China’s Great Wall, Gubei is a delight to explore. It imitates the architectures from Wuzhen water village in Zhejiang province.
Next to the Guber Water Town, you will see Simatai section Great Wall that is one of the few sections to retain the original appearance of the Great Wall in Beijing, which was built in the Ming Dynasty, known as the "dangerous, extraordinary and special”. It is a total length of 5.4 km (3.4 miles), a total of 36 beacon towers, the height building is "Wangjing building" that is up and down the narrow road, the slope of nearly 90 degrees angle. Where displays various patterns of construction. You can not only view the conventional appearance of the Great Wall, with battlements on each side of the track, but also see on steep cliffs the half-wall style, with battlements built only on the outer side. The slope and width also change dramatically depending on the different terrain. Some segments along the gentle slopes are so wide and mild that even horses can walk on them. At other narrow points, only one person at a time is able to pass. You will take the cable car up and down the wall when it's illuminated-the only part of the UNESCO-listed structure open to visitors at night, and beautifully illuminated from dusk onward.
Our guide and driver will pick you up at the lobby of your hotel in the downtown Beijing at 13:30pm and drive you to Gubei Water Town.
15:30pm: reach Gubei Water Town
15:45pm:explore the water town (Recommended routes: Sima Fiquor Distillery - Yongshun Dye House - Yinghua Academy -Yang Wudi Temple - Moon square -Zhenyuan Safeguard Agency- Eight Banners Guild Hall)
17:30pm: dinner time, the guide will assist you find a nice local Chinese restaurant, you can have dinner by your own cost there
18:30pm : arrive at the foot of the Great Wall, begin to enjoy the night view on Simatai Great Wall
22:00pm: return back to your hotel in Beijing city then finish the tour
